Welcome Letter 23-24

Welcome Letter 23-24
Posted on 08/01/2023

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We hope that you and your family are enjoying the summer so far! We wanted to share some information with you as we are getting very excited to begin our 2023-2024 school year!

Helpful information about our school can be found on our school website, Central Middle School. Included on that page are the supply lists for each team and information about the Quincy Public School suggested summer reading. The first day of school for students is Wednesday, September 6th and it will be a full day of school. At 8:15AM, seventh and eighth grade students will go directly to their new homerooms. Homeroom lists will be posted on the front windows by Friday, September 1st. Sixth grade students will be ushered into the auditorium where their teachers will greet them and walk them to their homerooms. All students will receive their schedules and their agenda books during homeroom on the first day of school. The Central Staff does an amazing job of putting students, especially our sixth graders, at ease by taking them on a tour of the building and explaining their schedule in great detail. Please reassure your student that they are in good hands!

Each grade has two teams of teachers: the sixth-grade teams are Patriots (APC) and Presidents, seventh grade teams are Freedom (APC) and Liberty and the eighth-grade teams are Adams (APC) and Lincoln. Some of our APC Teachers teach on both teams and your students will see who their teachers are when they receive their schedules on the first day.

Our incoming seventh and eighth graders had an opportunity to meet the next year’s teams of teachers last June and the incoming sixth graders attended a fly up day at Central Middle School last spring. In addition, we have a team of specialists for art, music, health, physical education, technology education and media. Students will switch classes for math, science, social studies and English/language arts. Eighth grade students will have a Spanish course and sixth and seventh graders will have a reading class.

Central’s Main Office is closed, but will re-open on Monday, August 28, 2023. If you have questions or concerns regarding placement or services for your child, please contact the main office, 617-984-8725 during the week of August 28th. We are looking forward to an exciting new school year! See you on September 6th!

Sincerely,

Rick DeCristofaro
